Considering a dashcam but not fully convinced about the benefits? In this blog post, we are going to go through the main benefits of a dashcam to show you just how great they are. Dash cams are continuing to become more and more popular as the years go by due to the great benefits that they can pose.
A dashcam is essentially a camera which you mount on the dashboard of your vehicle to record your journey. Having a dashcam in your vehicle can be useful for a number of purposes.
Evidence of incidents or car accidents
Probably seen as the biggest draw and benefit of installing a dashcam into your vehicle is that any accidents will be recorded. A dashcam will provide a real-time account of any incident that you may find yourself in on the roads. Whether that be an accident or even a discussion which has escalated at the roadside, your camera will provide you with evidence to prove your account.
You could use any of your dashcam footage to prove than an incident was not your fault and use the recording as evidence if required. Without having video evidence, there may be more of a dispute as to who is at fault for the accident and therefore responsible for the damage.
Keep an eye on the road
Similarly to recording evidence in the case of a crash, a dashcam can provide evidence to report a dangerous or irresponsible driver. If you suspect that someone is driving dangerously or are for example playing on their phone whilst behind the wheel, then your dashcam may record the footage. We do not recommend that you purposely get close to a dangerous driver on the roads, but if your dashcam footage may be of use to the relevant authorities, then this again is another invaluable use.
Record a Trip
A more upbeat use for a dashcam is to record your favourite trips, scenery or roads. If you have great memories of a road trip with friends or family and would like to document the route you took, then why not use your dashcam to make a wonderful recording of your journey. Simply download the footage and you will have a lovely memory to keep for years to come.
